I have had my AirPods connected to a different apple id for a long time and they would switch devices seamlessly with no problems, but now after removing them from my old apple id and adding them to my new one, I have to put them in pairing mode to connect them to my Mac every single time I want to use them. Ive tried reseting them and checked to make sure they aren't connected to the old apple id anymore. Any thoughts?

Wondering if the firmware on the AirPods may need updating. Generally they would update automatically, but they would need to be connected (to a Mac or device with an up-to-date OS version that is connected to wi-fi), while the update takes place.

Thanks for your response. I am not having a problem switching devices but keeping it connected to one device. I am easily able to connect but when I try to reconnect after coming back later I have to repair them.
