iPhone adds +1 to numbers and making them undeliverable My phone has my contacts listed numbers like (315) ***-**** When I try to text to one of those numbers, a 1 gets added to the front of the number, and then I get an undeliverable message saying the number has too many digits. It's an Iphone 7 with software version 15.8.4 This just started happening the last few days. How can I make it stop? Thanks in advance. 1 being added to sms txt message and failing Have one number that use to work with txt messaging … now all messages fail because some where a 1 is being added at the front of the telephone number. This is a new occurrence, I have not changed anything and it used to work. I have rebooted phone, stopped using assist still cannot txt to this number that I texted to last week.

Go to Settings/Phone and turn on Dial Assist.

Try turning it off, then. There’s something in the format of the phone number in Contacts that is confusing iOS.
