IOS requests permission to connect w/Google accounts: Warning

I just got replacement for my iPhone 12, every time I try to edit contacts, switch mail accounts I get a message to "enter the password for ()my GOOGLE accounts"; not Apple PW (ID). it also comes with a warning that giving this permission allows Apple to send, delete and otherwise manipulate info in email and to make calls and/or alter contacts, and says Be Sure you trust IOS before proceeding. Wth is this and why my Google passwords (wants both my Google accounts pws)? I've already been the victim of IDT once, I'm justifiably gun shy and why my Google PWs , shouldn't it ask for my APPLE ID? I've Never had anyone outside Google to ask me for my GPWs and I'm very uncomfortable with doing so and with allowing ANY OS the power that this permission gives. No one but the customer should have this amount of access, what is the necessity? If it's a necessity why doesn't the Android OS ask for this too?😒

If you have a gmail account on your iPhone your phone by default has your Google contacts also (unless you turn this feature off in Settings/Contacts/Accounts/gmail). If you then want to send an email from a non-Google account, or call or text someone using a Google contact Apple has to have access to your Google account to look up that email address or contact number.

Also, if you switch to a gmail account you must have the gmail password saved, or the mail app will not be able to send or receive gmail.
