When I click on "desktop and dock" I see the safari web browser, trying to arrow down for other options to switch to chrome, but other options are not appearing

Have you downloaded Chrome to your computer? It won't show there until you do.
All you have to do is open the other Browser.
In each browser's settings you can select which one to be the default.
