saving a photo from messages

I have a photo that someone sent in messages on my iPhone 11 Pro. I want to save to photos. I have hit save and copy, but cannot find it. where does it go?

Most likely into Photos. Second would be in the files app.

You should see a down arrow in imessage next to a photo. Tap that to have the media downloaded directly into photos -- it's a little faster.
