iCloud and Photos using my iMac SSD space

Hello folks,

To avoid files in iCloud to occupy my SSD, I selected “Remove download” on those and it worked, as I saved a lot of space.

I was checking the storage using “About this Mac” and noted that both iCloud drive and Photos are using a good space (see images),

I wonder if there is a way to save such space, obviously without losing any file, but keeping all only

in iCloud, where I have 2 TB and use just 15% of that?

Thanks for any hint Paulo

Hi there pmonnerat,

You'll want to be sure to check the recommendations for storing your files in iCloud on your Mac. Follow these steps below to do so:

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click General  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Click Storage on the right.
3. View the recommendations and decide how to optimize storage on your Mac.
