iPad's screen goes black

How do I keep my iPad screen from going black after only one minute unless I am actively using the touch screen or pressing keys?

Your iPad will automatically sleep (and lock the iPad) when you are not interacting with the screen - this being a feature intended to keep you personal and private information secure.

Consider changing your iPad’s Auto-Lock setting:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock - select from 2/5/10/15 minutes

Extending the auto-lock period should provide a longer period before the screen initially dims - and then turns-off.
