I have seen reports that support for this camera is added on OS Sonoma. It's not supported on Ventura at this time. It will not be supported on older operating systems.
Options: wait for OS 14 to come out in the autumn, use an app that does it's own raw decoding independent of Apple's decoder, or cover the files to DNG with Adobe free converter.

The Canon R5C is supported in Ventura 13.5 according to System Information : Software : Raw Support listing, but has not been updated in the Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support article.
I don't have any R5C CR3 Raw images to test. If you know any one with Ventura 13.5 installed, put an R5C CR3 (not C-RAW) image on a USB stick and see what Ventura can do with it in the Finder, Quick Look and Preview.
The idea that they won't update for an older OS is based on experience rather than anything Apple ahve actually said. Maybe this time they will. But I don't understand how someone shooting 10k images a week isn't living in Lightroom Classic or something similar.
Thank you,Yer_Man I have been living with it for two years. Yes I can open in Adobe Bridge or Photoshop. But often I am checking folders for images and do not want to open another app. It is short sighted of Apple not to add camera support when they update older OS. Converting my files is not practical when I shoot upwards of 10,000 images a week or more when I am busy.
