Cannot Send Mail on iMac/MBA, But Can on iPhone/iCloud

Cannot Send Mail on iMac/MBA, But Can on iPhone/iCloud

This started happening today on the iMac and the MacBook Air (both have current OS):

compose email
hit "send"
Mail crashes without sending email
much swearing
repeat several times

Email account deleted on iMac and added again

Now this is happening:

compose email
hit "send"
activity (bottom left corner of Mail window) shows "Sending 0 of 0"
nothing appears in Sent or Inbox (or any other mailbox)

Meanwhile email can be successfully sent on iPhone and iCloud (via Safari).

Any thoughts?

Then on Ventura Mac go to Mail-Mail's Menu item 'Window' and select Connection Doctor selection to see what faults show up!

Update:

I have installed Spark on the iMac, and it is working fine.

To be clear, Spark is indeed working fine but Mail is not. I would prefer to use Mail, and I am hoping someone can walk me through the process of determining how to get Mail back to a working state. I have opened Connection Doctor, which shows green lights for both IMAP and SMTP.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.
