the apple logo is just flashing on my screen

i woke up after my phone being in the sun for a few hours and the brightness was really low yet it said my brightness was on full so i switched it off and now when i try to turn it back on it flashes the apple logo for a few seconds, we've let it die and charged it and it still does this.
