iOs export Emails from offline Mail account

Dear Community,

I just got a new iPhone and set it up by using a freshly made Backup.

However, my old iPhone still has Email Accounts (and Emails) that don't exist anymore.

The Emails of these corresponding accounts are still locally available on that particular iPhone.

After some research, I learned that the iPhone Backup doesn't contain the actual Emails that are locally stored on the phone, so I cannot see those emails/accounts on my new phone anymore.

There is an option of moving email between accounts, which will be sufficient enough for my use case.

But exactly that doesn't work.

I guess it's not possible to move Email between accounts, because the Source Account is not Online anymore.

So my Question is, is there any way to extract/backup/move my emails that are only local on my iPhone ?

It's not necessarily important to import those Mails into my new iPhone, but a Backup is required to delete the old phone.

best,

Chris

Hi chriswiths,

If the account is not accessible, there wouldn't be a way to move email from that account to another. You'd need to have an online account in order to forward messages to a different email address. While it does not sound like there is a way to do what you are describing, we always welcome feedback and if you'd like to submit any, this is your best link: Product Feedback - Apple

Take care.

Thank you for your reply !

There was no such option to setup the account as IMAP or POP , because it was a gmail account.

Unfortunately google cannot help since the account is deleted for many years now.

I tried the Quick Start to Transfer , as well as a Backup created by my Mac but both options don't contain the mails anymore.

Also some intense searching/google didn't came up with a working solution.

I really hope someone can help, its a big issue to not be able to extract those email from my old phone.

Thank you !

Hi chriswiths,

Google accounts configure their servers through IMAP.

You can read about all the settings here:

Check Gmail through other email platforms

Because Google accounts are common, choosing Google from the menu just inputs the common default settings for you.

If you have erased the account with Google there's nothing to sync or restore. Please work with them for help with their account.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Alright, indeed it looks like it's configured as IMAP.

as described before, google is not able to help out.

is there really no way to extract local emails from that iPhone ? There are couple of backup options, iCloud , Mac .... non of them support also storing those emails ?

Any chance to convince the phone to move that emails into another account/folder without the source account required to be online ?

Thank you really much :)
