Log in to Lastpass using yubikey 5ci on macos ventura

Questions:

-Does MacOS ventura require 2FA?

-Is there a Lastpass app for MacOS? Or: Can I use the Lastpass Extension for Chrome? Or can (or must) I use the Lastpass Extension for Safari? Can I login and use the Lastpass website thru a(which) browser?

-What Authenticators work on MacOS for Lastpass 2FA Authentication

-Which PINs for the Yibikey are required on MacOS (FIDO2? PIV? PUK? Management?)

-Is there a good howto to set this up (link please)

My Yubikey already works fine for passwordless login on Windows and Linux, but I need to know if/how to use Yubikey on MacOS and IOS/IpadOS

That's certainly one of the most useless responses I've seen to an inquiry, and yes, I'm well aware that Apple wants to lock me into their "walled garden", and have me store all my passwords on Apple, and use the iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV and so on. But I use Windows and Linux too, and, for example, I don't want to store my passwords on three different platforms and have to figure out where the password for a given site or app is stored ..... ditto for cloud storage - I use DropBox.

I already know how to contact (third-party) vendors, thanks, and it turns out the answer to my question is:

Limitations and compatibility (Mac users only)

Please be aware of the following limitations when setting up passwordless login on a Mac:

  • At this time, the LastPass for Safari app extension and the LastPass Mac App do not support desktop biometrics and USB security keys for passwordless login – support for these features is coming soon!

Since Apple charges third-party vendors a lot to sell their apps through the App Store, you'd think they might actually help those vendors with support the apps on its platform(s).

You can set up a passkey on LastPass by using biometric authentication features on your device, like Face ID or Touch ID on your iPhone. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Open the LastPass app on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the settings icon (usually a gear icon).

3. Look for the “Security” or “Biometric” settings.

4. Enable Face ID or Touch ID as a method of authentication.

This will set up a passkey using your biometrics for easier and more secure access to your LastPass account

Both Lastpass using yubikey are third party— If in doubt refer to the developers website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility /updates...

I'm sorry you feel this way, gusz. But leroy douglas simply pointed out that LastPass is not an Apple app and you needed to reach out to them for resolution, which you later did and learned that the issue really does rest with LastPass.

And now you feel it's Apple's responsibility to assist every developer who has an app on the App Store actually code their apps?
