OnVue online testing would not open once my test was released to get started .

After running the system check with Pearson's OnVue program and checking with the proctor my exam was not loading . Instead I got the colored spinning wheel and the wheel just kept spinning and spinning. I had to force shut down my computer three times and everytime the exam site launched after the proctor would release my test the colored wheel would show up again and again. My exam was revoked do to this matter.

What and why is this happening? Three weeks ago everything worked out and not it is not working ?

I would contact Pearson. They were at least in 2018 the company that did the proctored exams so I could become Apple Certified.

Keep in mind speed issues and delays in application processes leading to spinning wheels can be caused by a number of factors:

  1. Insufficient space on hard disk. Keep at least 15% free. This is an arbitrary value that has been true since I first started in computers in the 1980s.
  2. Do not use any system optimizers. MacKeeper and Advanced Mac Cleaner are both notorious for fooling prior PC users into downloading them as PC users are typically used to having to run optimizers on their Windows PC. The way these programs optimize Mac performance actually reduces the performance and in the process can ruin the ability of applications to launch. I find deleting these programs in safe mode (holding the shift key at startup) with Reggie Answorth AppDelete to delete all last traces of the program usually fixes problems.
  3. Do not use any firewall or VPN software, unless on a work network that requires VPN access. This can slow down applications that need access to the internet for upstream communication.
  4. Turn off Filevault. Some applications may require downloading updates and Filevault encryption can slow things down. Use it only when you are sure that leaving the computer alone could result in data security compromises.
  5. Turn off Energy Saver auto-start. The program could be delayed by that.
  6. Use WPA2 encrypted WiFi or ethernet to connect to the internet. When you click on the airport menu ()with the Option key held down, the encryption level of your WiFi will appear in the menu. Insecure WiFi can cause the security of the overall testing software to be at risk.
