For Google, and specifically for the section discussing Google Alerts, and for those that have opted out, yes.


There are other entities that collect and monetize this and other metadata.


A quick search (not using Google) finds nine more providers, and there are undoubtedly others.

I’ve used Google Alerts for alerts, but not for this purpose.
