apple watch tracking

Can anyone tell me with 100% certainty if the apple watch can be live/realtime tracked through the Find My app on the paired phone? I have been told different things by searching online, personal experience, and even the genius bar at my local apple store. Thank you.

Generally your apple devices show on a map in Find My provided they are powered on.

However there is a passage in the article below that says the GPS-only watch must be connected to a trusted wifi and if you dropped it in the street that may not be the case.

ie "If you can't find your watch on the map it may not be connected to Wi-Fi, cellular or your paired iPhone."

So I was 100% certain before you asked the question but now I am not.

Pertinent details seem to trickle out slowly here. You might do better to reach out to Apple Support directly and include details not yet stated like who's iphone is she paired to. You should be able to reach support here  Click here > Contact - Official Apple Support  or phone numbers  Click here > Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support   or Click here

I got the watch for my daughter to wear so that I could track her movement live/real-time through the find my app or through the messages app. It’s a cellular watch by the way. I’m not asking in regards to the watch being missing or stolen. This is purely tracking its location live as I can do with say my wife’s phone for example.
