I am teaching a course on Beowulf, written in Old English. I would like to be able to copy passages for my students using the right characters (e.g., yogh, thorn, aesh lower and upper case). I have an extended keyboard if that helps. How do I get access to these characters and install them on my computer?

þðæœ ÞÐÆŒ can be found on the option level of the ABC Extended Input Source. No need to install anything.
Use the Keyboard Viewer on Mac - Apple Support
Write in another language on Mac - Apple Support
Hold down the option key and the keyboard will produce characters as shown below. Option plus Shift will give you uppercase.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am using ABC-Extended, but I cannot see anywhere that the Old English characters (or shortcuts) are available. I'm probably just doing the wrong thing; I may need more explicit steps.
