Problem with extreme drop in internet speed using Time Capsule as bridge

I´m using Time Capsule as a bridge to expand the wifi coverage of my router Huwaei, not more than one year old. After years of working well with provider provided routers, suddenly Time Capsule showed extreme drops in speed (from say 300 mbps to 40 or even 11 mbps download). My provider says it has to do with connected other routers, but I use Time Machine and one AIRPORT EXPRESS only as bridges. What is the issue? What happened? I restarted my Time Machine, without improvements. My Time Machine/Capsule bridge/router is maybe twenty years old but always worked perfectly. Any ideas or suggestions?

Dropping off speeds tends to be falling back to older Wi-Fi standards, but the question there is why. Interference is a good possibly, as can be failing hardware.

I had no end of trouble with some Time Capsules I was managing, until I noticed the Wi-Fi signals from those were dropping out entirely for about 15 seconds, then silently resuming communications. No errors and no yellow flashing LEDs, but nice signal drop-outs. Those Time Capsules were partially replaced with newer Wi-Fi access points, and were demoted to NAS duty until they failed.

Some newer access points can also operate as mesh networks, which might be a better fit for your case.

After a basic reboot of everything, get a tool such as WiFi Explorer available for macOS, and use that to check the local Wi-Fi environment, as a start.
