Ventura GUI issues

(1) After a while, Safari will load web pages that appear entirely black.

(2) After a while, when doing a Google search (from Google's web page) in Safari, the text is white on a white background.

(3) After a while, if I launch Affinity Designer, none of my images is visible: the canvas is entirely black.

(4) When using Excel (it might appear in other applications, but haven't checked), when I perform a "Save as...", the save button is no longer visible.  If I click where the "Save" button should be, the document saves.

The only cure for the above 4 is to restart my Mac.

MacOS Ventura 13.5

I don't use dark mode.

The only Safari extensions I use are AdBlock.

I had no problems before updating to Ventura.

This is a 2022 Mac Studio

P.S. I had to repost this using Chrome, because the screen turned black when I went to click on the "Post" button.

Hello Matthew Peterson,

We'd like to provide you with a few steps that may be able to assist you with the issues that you're having with macOS Ventura:

1. Start up your Mac in safe mode. Completing this step can help you identify whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up. Your screen may flash and load slower. This is expected behavior for this mode:

Use safe mode on your Mac

2. Verify if the issue occurs in a new user account. This will allow you to determine if the behavior is specific to your account or if it is a system wide issue: Add a user or group on Mac

3.  Reinstall MacOS. Reinstalling macOS doesn't remove your personal data and can help resolve software relates issues

Hello Matthew Peterson,

It appears you have a different issue happening than what was provided in your original post.

If you've ensured that you've properly used these steps to set up widgets on your Mac: Use Notification Center on Mac Then we would use the above steps to test it out in another user on the Mac to isolate the issue further.

Contact Apple Support about to discuss this further, they will take it from here: Get Support. They'll have the tools needed to investigate this issue further that we do not have access to while working in this venue.

Take care.

In addition, when using Zoom, I get a "Virtual Background is still loading" error message. If I go to Zoom's preferences and turn off the blur effect, I instead get a pink screen (similar to the widgets above). When I turn the blur effect back on, it turns from pink to black (messages in the console indicate that it can't connect to the camera).

A restart fixes everything...for a while.
