Songs Disappear - NOT The Same Problem As Everyone Else! Totally New And Different!

When I click on a song in my library (using my iPad), that song then disappears from my library and another totally unrelated song will play next. This will happen as long as I keep clicking on songs. There is no pattern to what disappears or what plays instead of the disappeared song. The only time this doesn't happen is if I'm listening to a play list. Although the songs disappear, they return when I sync with iTunes. Then things are fine for a short while, then it all repeats.

I have read almost every post on this forum regarding songs missing or disappearing, and no one has addressed this particular issue, nor have any of the other solutions worked for me. This is something totally new in my experience.

Hi Press14English,

Without further information on the precise details regarding your songs and use, a good first step would be to compare the songs in your library against the information outlined in If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library with regard to song status. Check to see if any of those statuses apply and how to resolve them.

If that is not the case, more information will be necessary such as:

1) Are these songs that were purchased from the iTunes Store, added as part of an Apple Music subscription, or synced from a computer from other sources?

2) Might the songs have DRM restrictions which require a connection to the internet or computer to renew permissions to access the files? The fact that things are "fine for a short while" lends credence to this possibility.

3) Are there any songs that this does not happen to at any point? If so, is there anything different or unique about those songs or how they were acquired?

Regards.

I do not turn on the option to "Sync Library" because iTunes takes over and changes all of my album art, genres, and other meta data. They need to fix that, as I spend quite a bit of time accurately maintaining the meta data only to have Apple overwrite it listing my songs as part of a greatest hits album or compilation, when I had it labeled correctly. If turning this on is the fix, then I'm moving to Android...

I checked the issue trying songs were burned from CDs and have no DRM restrictions, as well as songs I bought on iTunes and ones that I obtained through my Apple Music subscription. I get the same result with all of them: the song I select disappears from my library and a completely different song plays. This will go on until I lose every song and then I have to re-sync by plugging my iPad into my computer.
