Is the iCloud backup deleted if I set my restored iPhone as a new installation?

Hi all,

I have an iCloud backup of my iPhone of few weeks ago, but now it doesn't turn on anymore.

I was wondering if it was possible to restore it as fresh new installation (so skipping the iCloud backup), then run a scan software to recover the data of the previous few weeks and then restore the iCloud backup.

I was wondering if the iCloud backup is deleted the moment I set the "new installation" option on the same iPhone to which the backup belongs.

Hello -SimonG-,

If iCloud backup is set up on the iPhone after, then that does risk replacing the existing backup with a fresh - and empty - backup. So you'd need to restore the backup before taking new ones. However, just changing iCloud on the old iPhone will not impact the backup itself.
