What application are you attempting to use super/subscript in? If Pages, only the Format : Font : Baseline menu items work and their keyboard shortcuts are frustratingly wrong. Even in the Pages user guide for Mac.

On a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16-inch, the superscript keyboard shortcut is actually ⇧⌃⌘+ and on my M2 Mac mini Pro with a extended Apple Magic Keyboard, it is ⌃⌘+ where the + symbol is on the numeric keyboard, not on the main keyboard. Changing the plus symbol to the minus symbol does subscript.

Or the trusty Character Viewer as dialabrain suggested… and if one searches for digits, the superscript and subscript numbers are a row apart.

Excuse my delay of response to your thoughtful assistance. Unfortunately my limited knowledge, ineptness or old age prevail and resulted in the below.

  1. I only wish to type subscripts when needed for items such as CO2.
  2. Tried subscript keyboard shortcut without success
  3. Trusty Character Viewer - I cannot find

Can you offer additional assistance?

Thanks much
