Music for Ventura – Sync Library is turned ON by default. This should not be turned ON unless the user indicates that they want it!

In looking for the iTunes Store in Ventura, I came across two unhelpful default settings:

  • In Music > Settings… > General, the iTunes Store checkbox is turned OFF. You could look all day in the main window or in the menus, and never find the iTunes Store, if you did not think to look here.
  • In Music > Settings… > General, the Sync Library checkbox is turned ON. I do not want to use Sync Library, or iTunes Match, and had deliberately kept that option turned OFF on my old machine.

Fortunately, I came across the Sync Library setting before setting up an external drive with a library of music imported from my own CDs …

You can suggest this to the team using the Feedback - Apple Music - Apple page. If a lot of customers want that option and communicate it, there is a higher chance you might see it on a future Music app update. Sorry there isn't a more straightforward answer right now.
