Apple loggerheads

Why is apple always seemingly at loggerheads with other company’s like BBC ( unable to directly play BBC sounds on mini pod) or what’s app not compatible with iPad but works on Mac and iPhone. My wife purchased the mini home pod to play BBC SOUNDS but unable to do so without fiddly work arounds no body I know with google devices have these sort of problems problems. We have APPLE for reliability but, at times I am having a hard time convincing others!
