Setup Codes for Home

I'm trying to add an older device with a code in the format of ###-##-### and the Home app reformats it to ####-#### and will not recognize the device. Is the device obsolete or no longer supported?

Mac mini, macOS 10.13

Hello,

While the code format may appear to be different, they both have the same number of digits and are recongnized the same. Try entering the code manually by clicking "More options..." > "My Accessory Isn't Shown Here" > "Enter Code" and type in the 8 digit setup code.
