Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings of this Mac were modified

I solved this on my M1 Pro by:

  1. Running csrutil status in the Terminal and verifying it does not say "System Integrity Protection status: enabled."
  2. Booting into Recovery OS by shutting down and when starting held the power button to enter boot options
  3. I selected "Options" and then opened Terminal via the toolbar at the top of the screen (I forgot which drop down panel it is but you can quickly find it)
  4. In the Terminal I wrote csrutil enable and entered my password when prompted (make sure you click enter after)

I hope this helps!

MBP2019 16" Intel: System Integrity Protection is enabled, updates are enabled, Startup Security is set to the highest. SMC reset is a temporary fix: it will keep Apple Pay working for two days, then the next time I reboot, it gets disabled again. A second issue appears at the same time: the laptop does not lock after inactivity. The screen turns off after inactivity and the machine sleeps. The following morning, I press a key to wake it, and it's not locked: it does not ask for Touch ID or password. SMC reset is a temporary fix for both. I was asked to send it for repair again. I already spent 30 months on many repairs. They erase it every time.
