To instal the new macOS Ventura its asking me to log in as a administrator. I already added my Apple ID password and its not letting me proceed with the upgrade. The password to log into my computer isn't working either.

It won't finish the installment. Im not sure what password its asking for.

When you first setup your MacBook Air, you were asked to setup a user account. When you set this up, it was setup as an Administrator account. You should use this username/password combination to complete the upgrade. If this is a work/school account and someone else set up the computer for you, you might not have Administrator privileges. In that case, you might need to contact your IT support department for more help.

If you still can't complete the upgrade, it might be useful to show us a screenshot of the prompt you're seeing. Hope you can upgrade your MacBook soon!

Hi Zar670,

ekassos has an excellent reply. A screenshot would be very useful to help further diagnose the issue.

While it's rare, it's possible that your account might have lost administrator permissions somehow, especially if you tried changing its full name or user account name. Can you please complete these steps:

  1. Open System Settings or System Preferences.
  2. Select Users & Groups.
  3. Confirm whether your account is marked as an Admin. If not, click the (i) button if it appears, then let us know whether the switch or box is enabled for "Allow this user to administer this computer".
