I once had a free alternative that was much better than Command Tab.
With Command Tab you need to hold the command key and launch an app
With the app I had, this was not the case and could see all active apps including their windows,
choose to minimise or to quit each one, in order to keep the clutter down
But I do not remember the name of this app.
