My iPad was stolen, how do I recover the photos!?

My iPad was stolen and we cannot locate it unfortunately. I desperately want to recover the photos. How do I do this without the actual iPad??

Thanks

iPad, iPadOS 16

If your stolen iPad was using iCloud Photos - and was therefore synchronising its Photo Library with iCloud - your Photos can be accessed/recovered using another Apple device that is signed-in with the same AppleID. You can also access your iCloud Photo - and any other documents synchronised to iCloud from any computer using a web browser:

https://icloud.com

If you were not using iCloud Photos, but were instead using an iCloud backup, this backup can be restored to a replacement device:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Restore all content to iPad from a backup - Apple Support

As for your stolen iPad, if you haven’t already done so, you may wish to attempt recovery:

Locate a device in Find My on iPad - Apple Support

Here is Apple’s advice for lost or stolen devices:

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is lost or stolen – Apple Support

Use the Find My app to locate a lost or stolen device – Apple Support

If the Find My iPad feature was enabled prior to it being “misplaced”, then if active, you would stand a good chance of locating it.

However, if the feature was not activated prior to being misplaced - or the iPad has been inactive for more than 24 hours, the last known location will not be available - and the opportunity to use technical means to recover the iPad have been lost.
