Change lettertype of whole table

I want to change lettertype for a whole Table. But whatever I try, e.g. by selecting whole table and change lettertype, it doesn't work. The only option seems to be to change the lettertype cell by cell. That's a lot of work. Is there a better solution?

If it was so easy

On my machine it is that easy. First select the cells in the table (i.e., not the whole table as a object with no cells selected).

Then, with the cells still selected, choose a new font in the dropdown in the Text tab.

Keep in mind that you can also set up a template with defined table styles if you don't like the default font.

I clicked on a cell then clicked on the bullseye at the top left of the table to select the entire table. I was able to change the font in all cells. It also works to click on the table name above the table or click on the table name in the sheet tab or click on a cell then Command A to select all. I don't know what SGIII is referring to about selecting the "cells in the table" vs the "whole table as an object" but I guess it made sense to you if whatever you did differently worked.
