pictures disappear on car and can't export cr2 files from Mac

After I imported files from card to Mac book pro, they converted to lower. quality jpegs and the raw files are not separate. I cannot open or. see the raw files in photoshop and if I try to copy and paste they paste as low quality jpeg not a raw file. The files also are no longer visible the card at all; so there no way to try to work with them again from the card. Apple seems to be pushing me back to Dell,.....
