Most Apps can be re-downloaded from the App Store. Just click on the small cloud-like icon to re-download each App. Of course, some may not be available for the newer phone because the developer has not kept up with the newer software.

If the apps were on your iPhone 12 when you made the backup, and you restored from that backup, they will eventually come back. It could take awhile if you have a slow internet connection.
