SuperDrive not working with Mac mini M2.

How can I connect an older SuperDrive usb C to a new Mac mini M2 chip based machine. The Mac doesn’t recognize the drive at all.

Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB drive is no longer working on my 2020 MacBook Air or my 2021 IMac 24. I purchased a new Apple Superdrive in August of 2022 at the same time I purchased my 2021 IMac 24. This drive worked on both the IMac24 and my 2020 Macbook Air using a USB type c hub. I had not used it for a while and recently tried, and on both machines I get this message "USB Accessory Needs Power Connect "Apple USB...." to a USB port on this Mac". I have tried restarting with the SuperDrive attached ( this used to work in the past to get the IMac to recognize the drive) and have updated to Sonoma, and I am wondering if updating the OS is the problem.?

Use a USB-A to USB-C adapter and connect directly to your Mac, not through a hub.
