In CarPlay while using the Apple
podcast app and navigating with with Google Maps, podcasts pause after 5-10 seconds of playing. This has been happening consistently for the last 2 weeks. When I press play, the podcast plays for another 5-10 seconds then pausing. This continues until I close Google Maps. Voice directions have been disabled for Google Maps.

I had this problem for about a month and came across the fix on a different forum. I went to settings, Google maps, and toggled off the app’s access to the camera. 100% fixed now.
None of these fixes worked for me : Here is the ACTUAL fix.

Apparently google maps has videos that can autoplay? Totally random. Credit to J12a on Reddit for posting this solution on applehelp subreddit.
i Tried the camera toggle and the Bluetooth method and still it stops. Anyone else know of how to fix this problem?
I have a solution that worked for me. I am not 100% sure which variable I changed was the fix.. but this is what I did
In the Google Maps settings…
1) turned off “Play voice over Bluetooth”
2) switched “music playback controls” to “none”
3) changed “mute state” to “muted”
And in the phone settings under Settings->Google Maps (just open settings and scroll down until you see the app)
1) toggled “microphone” off
2) toggled “media & Apple Music” off
3) went into “notifications” and toggled off “sounds” and “announce notifications”
I did not toggle camera off like the other comment but this worked 🤷🏻♂️
What worked for me was:

-> Spoken Directions
-> Directions pause spoken audio (toggle off)
Never mind, it stopped working.
Use Wase app for navigation, which can pause or unpause voice over for maps. 👍🏻😉
