Automatic focus activation via location not working

Hi,

unfortunately the automatic focus activation via location trigger does not work for me.

I have searched the forums and found a lot of people with the same problem but none of their solutions worked for me.

Background: iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16. I want the work focus to be activated automatically when I arrive at work. I selected the location option in the focus settings and put my work address there, additionally I increased the geofence radius with the slider. But it simply doesn’t work.

As replacement I am using a shortcut automation now, which is doing the same (when arriving at location, enable the focus). This works, however it’s less convenient since I have to manually confirm this automation. For whatever reason this very automation (and a few more) cannot be executed without manual confirmation. Using the shortcuts automation it also detects, when I leave the workplace and disables the focus.

I already have checked the setting which device is used for sharing the location, it’s my currently used iPhone. To be sure I also have set this to my iPad and reset it to my iPhone.

Additionally I also already have reset all privacy and location settings (using the respective reset function) in case I had a wrong setting there.

I am now a little bit lost about what else to try. Any suggestions?

When you run an automation in the Shortcuts app on your iPhone, it may require approval from the user before it can be executed. This is a security feature that is designed to prevent unauthorized access to your device or sensitive data.

Ask Before Running may not be available in these cases...

In particular, when an automation involves accessing or modifying sensitive data, such as your contacts, location, or camera, health data, Home App the Shortcuts app will prompt you for approval before allowing the automation to proceed. This helps to ensure that you are aware of what the automation is doing and have the opportunity to approve or deny access to your data.

Additionally, if an automation is triggered by a shortcut that has the "Ask Before Running" option enabled, you will be prompted to confirm that you want to run the automation before it is executed. This can help prevent accidental or unintended actions from being performed by the automation.

Overall, the approval process for running an automation is an important security feature that helps to ensure that your data and device are protected from unauthorized access or misuse.

Hi and thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it isn’t helpful for me since I didn’t ask why several automations cannot be executed without confirmation but I did ask if there are any more things I could try to get my focus automation working.

Now, it seems that the automatic activation by time of the sleep focus isn’t working anymore aswell…
