Updating/changing email outgoing port settings on iPhone

Hey!

I'm trying to update the outgoing/ sending port settings on an iphone for emails, but everytime the port is changed to the new port details (currently 587) it just hangs ("verifying") and wont update. This is affecting being able to send emails.

can't receive emails on phone I installed a VPN on my phone and couldn't get email when it was on. VPN provider told me to change the port settings. Got an error message that it couldn't connect to the server then. Changed back to original port setting and now can't get any incoming mail on my phone. Any ideas on what to try besides deleting the email account and reinstalling.

where are port settings for ipad mail accounts? Having trouble setting up a POP account on my old iPad (3rd generation - A1430). Set-up is saying that SSL is not working. I think this may be because the port numbers are incorrect - but I can't find any way to check. Can anyone help?
