MacOS Music app using a 100% CPU, endlessly

Greetings. I've got a 2020 MacBook Pro. I have several thousand tracks in it, from CDs that I ripped years ago. Almost every time I open the app, the CPU usage for Music rises to 100% of one CPU in a few seconds and then stays there, for as long as the app is open. AMPLibrary Agent kicks in, too, and sometimes it sticks at 100% as well.

And I do mean it sticks there: I've left it sitting overnight for entire days and when I come back to the machine it's still pegged at 100%, churning away, burning out my machine, wasting power, and slowing things down.

I'm on Monterey 12.6.8, but the same thing happened for me on Big Sur, AND Catalina, AND Mojave. Yes, this has been happening to me for about five years. It's at the point now where I try to never open Music any more and just listen to things by syncing them to my phone and playing them on the stereo from there.

I have about a hundred very carefully curated playlists. Just deleting everything and then dragging the music into a blank Music app is not really an option, because there are no good ways to reconstruct playlists.
