update excel

Question

Hello Collective Wisdom,

I am happily using Excel 2008 on an iMac running Mojave (OS 10.14.6).

My partner uses a newer version of Excel, and we need to share files back and forth (e.g. by email).

When she sends me an .xlsx file I can open it, but some of the formatting gets screwed up.

Bottom line, I need to update to the most recent version of Excel which Mojave can handle.

My question: what version is that, and how do I go about getting it?

It looks like Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.3 Update is the latest update released on 8/15/2023. See https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=21851.

Thanks for this. I checked my current version of Excel, it is Excel 2008 for Mac Version 12.2.9.

Sounds like this is newer than what you are referencing, namely 12.1.3?
