Continuity camera slow to connect

I recently started to use Continuity camera and connects very slowly. Anywhere from 30 seconds to over 2 minutes. Is this normal? Any suggestions to speed up the connection? Both the iPhone 14 and Mac mini (M1 chip) are on the same wireless network.
