On my iPhone (iOS 16.6), the brightness goes to max when I use WhatsApp. This is happening despite turning off Auto-Brightness in accessibility. How can I sort this once and for all rather than manually reducing brightness in the control centre every time I use WhatsApp. This problem has surfaced very recently (is eating away battery/charge too quickly).
I was also experiencing this issue on ios and WhatsApp. It might happen after scanning a QR code to share your account with someone else or to add a linked account. Forcing the app to close and restart seems to fix it.

If the issue of brightness happens only with WhatsApp then surely it is not an iPhone issue.
Tell WhatsApp support about it. They may be assuming it to be an issue will all Apps in your iPhone. Please clarify it to them.
However, before you do that take a backup of your chat history delete the app and redownload the app again.
Here’s Quick fix So this happened with me as well while scanning QR code for web WhatsApp what you can do is “Go again to scan web WhatsApp QR code and try reducing the brightness or change it, and come back to the main interface of chats in WhatsApp and there you problem fixed” Cheers 🥂 by the way this issue is with both the companies apple should have had permission to use adaptive screen brightness !! and WhatsApp should have been fixed this bug of increased brightness as soon as we get back to chat screen.
Just restart your phone and the brightness will be back to normal.
OMG, this happen to me 2 hours ago and I was going crazy. I am so happy that I found your message on here. It worked. All I did was open my QR code and turned my brightness level down AND it stayed down 🎉🎉🎉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Thank you and I hope everything in your life goes well and smooth!
You will need to contact WhatsApp for help with their software, this is not an Apple product.

Yes. After killing the app and restart totally works for me and thinking back. This problem indeed surface after I had open the QR code for someone to scan WhatsApp. So WhatsApp app must be brightening up for the scanning of QR code but didn’t revert back to normal after return to chat.
All sorted, just now. Open WhatsApp go to the QR Code like you are trying to scan something, while the QR Code is open scroll down the phone panel you’ll see the brightness is at max.., then you reduce from there. WhatsApp brightness will be fixed.
i was fearing this situation. I had msgd the issue to whatsapp support too and their reply is:

I've been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max for almost 5 months now. However, I've noticed that for the past 2 days, the brightness is very high only when I open WhatsApp Business, while everything else is fine. How can I solve this issue?
I did assert, that it has got something to do with whatsapp. They are yet to respond.
