Duplicate iMessages sent to myself?

I often send myself recipes or YouTube url or articles found online via iMessage using my iPhone 12. I have to ADDRESS those to my own phone number which is listed in my phones DIRECTORY along with the rest of my family by last name. It auto fills when I get to the 2nd letter of my first name.

i always get 2 copies of the same iMessage stacked.

This OCCASIONALLY happens when my wife sends me similar articles which catch her eye: they arrive twice.

what are we doing wrong or ignoring for this to happen?

Hi HintsFromHomie,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you have some questions about iMessage, and we're happy to help. Are you and your wife sharing the same Apple ID? If so, this could explain why you're seeing unexpected behavior with Messages. Check in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on what Apple ID is showing there and if you're sharing the same one. You can see more about managing those settings here: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support

Thanks.

Less: thanks for the reply but no, we do not share a common Apple ID and would never dream of it.

she NEVER sends herself URL finds or (recipe) saves via iMessage for later review / return -to-site so she never suffers the duplicate transmissions that I do. It’s gotten to the point where every 2-3 days I have to scroll my iMessages and batch -Delete a handful of them.

This is instantaneous duplication.

There must be another explanation.
