Tricaster files not useable on Mac in FCPX

I was supplied a set of iso and a program feed from a green screen studio running Tricaster Mini… and three NDI cameras, though I don’t know if they used NDI or SDI from the cameras to the Mini?

The files are .mov files… FCPX inspector describes them as xd5c, however even Google doesn’t seem to know what that is sadly.

On playback the program stream is green with audio, but with a flashing artifact, both in QT player and in FCPX. Info says it’s linear pcm audio, and MPEG-2 (.mov extension). FCPX inspector says that codec is ‘xd5c’, linear PCM.

Have tried re wrapping them in Handbrake on PC, EditReady and Compressor and a couple of others but no program even sees them in their current format - so many wasted hours there.

Two of the three iso streams are useable though one is very poor resolution. This I suspect is a camera fault or operator error, though I cannot rule out some sort of codec issue. Inspector in FCPX even identifies the working files in the same way as the ones that have audio only.

I had asked the studio for Apple pro res 422 HQ however their Techo isn’t a Mac person. That said, I now read that pro res isn’t an option anyway.

So it’s looking like Tricaster and FCPX are a complete mismatch… and that I have no option but to re edit in something like Resolve?

Frustration is the understatement so any help would be gratefully received hey.

I think i may have the answer. Some of the files are supplied PAL and they work, but the ones that do not work are supplied in NTSC. Obviously thats a no go. Why would they do that LOL? 2 days lost.
