Duplicate files in a folder named purgatory?

I recently got a new Mac and transferred my project files from my MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air. I did this using a time machine back up.

All my project files are saved using dropbox that is synchronized with Finder.

This is about a month ago and everything seems to be working fine, but I had an issue with a duplicate that I found in this folder named "purgatory".

I was going to delete it but before I did, I wondered if anybody had suggestions why this was created?

Do you know is an example of the file name
