iphone 3g doesnt charge

One for the OGs here. Found the box of all the iPhones and devices my parents have had, and it just so happened that they kept the iPhone 3G. The cables for it are long gone, so I had to order a new one. When I did, I plugged it into charge, it acknowledged that, and left it there for a few hours. When I came back, it still did the same thing as before. Any suggestions?

Totally lost cause. If the battery was left discharged for a long time, it has died and can't be brought back to life. And it would be an absolute waste of money to try to replace the battery. Apple certainly won't do it. And any 3rd party iFixit type of business could mess it up and it would be a waste of money. Plus as Bob Timmons, correctly suggests, 3G service has been taken down throughout most of the world, so you'd not only not be able to connect to a carrie, but the iOS is so out of date on that phone, that most modern apps won't run on such an antique iPhone.
