How do I get the best out of a new 27" 4k 144Hz Monitor - Connected to a Late 2015 MacBook Pro?

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is something I should do to get the absolute best resolution and Hz out of my new Monitor.

I have it connected to my MacBook Pro using an HDMI cable.

HDMI Cable Spec: 10k 8k 4k HDMI Cable 6.6 FT, Certified 48Gbps 1ms Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 Cable 4k 120Hz 144Hz 8k 60Hz 12bit ARC eARC DTS:X Dolby Atmos HDR10 Compatible for Mac Soundbar Gaming PC RTX3090

Then the HDMI cable is connected to a 4k x 2k HDMI Adapter.

Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking at the MacTracker entries for 2015 MBPs ((Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) and (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)), it appears that the highest UHD 4K refresh rate you can expect from the HDMI port is 30 Hz.

"Up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at 30 Hz (HDMI)"

I don't know if you might be able to get a higher refresh rate with a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
