Manage Music Library - iPad Pro or Macbook Air

Several years ago I swapped my Macbook Air for an iPad Pro and found (after the purchase) that I could not manage my the music in my iTunes as easily. In the meantime Apple updated iTunes to Music which further confused me. I like the old iTunes where I can see all my music as if it were in a spreadsheet, categorize/ organize it, make purchases and easily set up playlists. It’s time to replace my iPad Pro 13 and I’m considering going back to the Macbook for this reason. I’m looking for suggestions in case I’m just missing something with the iPad as it relates to Music organization. Thanks!

The main limitations with Music on an iPad compared with Music on an Mac is that you cannot edit metadata or rip CDs. You can manage regular playlists on an iPad, but with a computer you can create and edit smart playlists, and it is easier to select and organize content in bulk.

If you only have an iPad right now, and no backups of your iTunes library from before, then you should take a look at Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community.
