After a restore now I have "Remote Management"profile for some company on my iPad Pro

Gen 1 - 12.9" iPad Pro, circa 2015

I have owned this iPad since January of 2017

Purchased off eBay in 2017, no issues registering it with Apple or any indication it was owned by a corporation or had any Remote Management profile on it. No Application or iCloud locks on the device. Registered with Apple since I've owned it.

I have restored/reset it to factory settings a few times since I purchased it and have never seen anything about a Remote Management profile on this device. NEVER had any issues with restores/resets in the past.

Last night Aug 28, 2023 I did a reset on it because it was acting funny and when it came back up and when I started through registering it with iCloud process it announced that it was under Remote Management now.

Apple support so far has not been helpful at resolving this or providing a contact information for the "company" that now has a Remote Management profile on my iPad.

This profile came from a Microsoft server. That much you can see under the Settings/General tab.

IF it had been owned by a company and they had Remote Management setup on the device WHY didn't it show up until six years later?

Makes me very suspicious about Apple Security now that somehow my device serial number has been hijacked and Apple will not assist in helping troubleshoot or assist in resolving this issue.

You bought it off ebay.

Apple can't do anything.

Only the company can remove the remote management profile.

Whoever you bought it from didn't completely remove it before selling it to you.

I agree, Apple can't remove it but that isn't the issue.

Somehow Apple let someone else hijack my S/N when it was put it into their MDM push, which effectively stole my iPad. Apple should be able to see that, who the device was/is registered to, when it was registered, changes to registration...

I've reset/restored to factory several times since it was purchased and NEVER had this issue. This is something that has happened in the last month or so since it started acting up and I finally got fed up with the issues and did the reset again.

This device has been registered to me for 6 years and this is the first time it has ever shown anything about a remote profile.

There should be some kind of validation when you enter a device serial number into a management portal to ensure it is not already registered somewhere else. But that, if it exists, has failed.

I've finally found a number for the IT dept of the company but am waiting on them to respond.

IF it happened once it can happen again, to someone else. That's what I'm trying to get over to you.

Not resolved but still working the issue.
