For a while, I am unable to open my notifications with a single touch. Where before, the app automatically opened when tapping the notification, now the notification moves slightly to the right and an “open” button appears on the left. I then have to tap this button or the notification won’t bring me to the app. I find this rather annoying, and can nowhere seem to find the answer to how I can fix it.

yeah my true depth camera and therefore my Face ID have been damaged and not working for a while. That must be the problem. I don’t think it’s fixable than without repairing my Face ID.

You are correct! If the hardware is damage then you will not be able to use the feature. We recommend contacting your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help in repairing your device. You can check out this link to locate a provider location that will work better for you.

If you have Face ID enabled for any sort of lock screen features, it may be causing this to happen. You may find modifying the settings as outlined in Change Face ID and attention settings on iPhone - Apple Support could help.
