Music randomly stops

For the past three weeks while I’m driving my music randomly stops playing. Today I used my iPad (Wi-Fi/cellular) to see if it was my car or my phone, it’s my phone. No matter what car I’m in, it stops working. I have a XS Max, which also freezes a lot, I’ve disconnected and reconnected in both cars and it’s still an issue. It’s frustrating the Bluetooth connection isn’t the problem.

Hey Kizmiaz112,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If you haven't already, double-check that Music has access to cellular data by tapping Settings > Cellular. Here's more details: Use cellular data on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

In addition to check your cellular data settings, make sure your iPhone is updated as that too can resolve odd issues. If an update is needed, back up first: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Keep us posted.

Take care!

It is the Apple Music App that is not working properly. I have another music app and everything is fine until I use Apple Music. I’m not sure what’s going on, everything is up to date and my cellular is working. I pay a lot for my Apple Music and it doesn’t work. For now I’ll deal because Apple is usually good at fixing issues like this so I’ll just wait a little longer to see what happens.

Thank you

Hi Kizmiaz112,

We understand that this is only happening while you're using the Apple Music app in your car, correct?

Have you deleted and reinstalled the Music app? If you need help to remove the app, you can reference the steps outlined here to do so: Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

"How to delete an app

  1. Touch and hold the app.
  2. Tap Remove App Remove App icon.

An iPhone screen showing the menu that appears when you touch and hold an app. Remove App is the third option in the menu.

3. Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

Keep in mind that some built-in Apple apps can't be deleted from your device, so you might not see the option to delete an app. Here’s a list of built-in Apple apps you can delete from your device. If you can't delete an app that's not made by Apple, disable parental controls, then try deleting the app again."

Once you've removed the Music app, you can redownload it via the App Store.

Another option you may consider is ruling out the possibility of Bluetooth interference. Typically, audio interference is due to wireless interference. This resource will guide you: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support

"Symptoms of wireless interference

Any of these symptoms could be caused by interference affecting the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal:

  • Device doesn't connect or stay connected
  • Connection is slow and signal strengthNo alt supplied for Image is low
  • Bluetooth audio skips, stutters, cuts off, or has static or buzzing
  • Pointer movement is erratic or jumpy"

We hope this helps.

Kind regards.
