When I turn on my computer, a baseball appears above my name. I didn't put it there, it just mysteriously appeared one day about 5 years ago. How do I change it to something different?

Choose the desired image and Save button

Thanks Fox Fifth. After a couple of attempts, I was able to change it. So, how do I change it to something custom?
I'd like to change it to something New York Jets related. It wasn't a choice available doing it with the options presented through the method you suggested.
Thank you for your help. But how do I make it custom? And when I did it the way someone else suggested, photographs and the like were NOT available choices like you show in your example. There were about two dozen artsy like symbols to choose from. Where did the examples (photos, etc.) you used in your explanation come from? Didn't see an owl either... did see something (ever so faintly) that said "edit..."
Go to Users & Groups in Apple Menu > System Settings (or System Preferences in older macOS versions) and click on the picture there to edit it.
Find the Jets related picture online or somewhere, download it and and then save it to Photos. Then click on Photos as shown below after clicking on the current icon in Users & Groups. See below:
