Set up created password but it won’t work the first time I tried it
I just bought the MacBook Air today. Completed set up but did not know how to set up touch. Created a password but it won’t work

If you're unable to log into your Mac with the password, you may need to follow the steps in If you forgot your Mac login password or If you can't reset your Mac login password to regain access to your Mac.
Once that is resolved, Use Touch ID on Mac can be followed to configure Touch ID for entry. It's important to note that after a restart, "To use Touch ID for these tasks, you must have logged in to your Mac already by entering your password." Therefore this function will be used after the inital login or when waking from Sleep.
